Abstract
This report presents the procedures used to simulate ensembles of ground motions for two specific hospital sites on the west coast and east coast of the United States. The appendices provide accelerograms and response spectra for both the west an east coast sites, and the simulated strong ground motions are provided on this CD-ROM and accompanying manual. The research was carried out as part of MCEER's Seismic Retrofit of Acute Care Facilities research area, known as Thrust Area 2. This research seeks to develop a better understanding of the applications of various seismic response modification technologies to protect structural and nonstructural systems and components in acute care facilities from the effects of earthquakes. The research effort is fully described in Aref et al, 2004.
