Abstract
The purpose of this meeting was to provide a vehicle for the exchange of information related to current and projected university research in earthquake engineering and to evaluate progress in specific areas of research and establish goals and priorities for future work. One hundred and sixty-seven individuals attended the meeting representing 57 universities, various government agencies, and industries. There were six topically organized sessions consisting of research reports and a summary discussion. The written summaries of these reports, along with some summaries not presented orally, are presented. The research topics were as follows: ground motion; structural elements; soils and soil-structure interaction; seismic risk, seismic design and codes; experimental structural response; and analytical structural response.
