- Abstract
- The initial study reports investigation of simple elastoplastic structures when subjected to various pulse-types of ground excitation, including actual earthquake ground motions. Results include structural deformation response, input and hysteretic energies, numbers of yield excursions, the results of a limited Fast Fourier Transform study, and the observations arising from an experimental investigation of a simple structure. The second study reports the development of two comprehensive seismic damage evaluation criteria. Three applications of the damage criteria and possible applications to current design philosophy are presented.
