Abstract
A three day workshop was held at Cornell on August 3-5, 1987. Its basic aims were to facilitate technology transfer and to attempt to influence future directions in earthquake engineering practice, education, and research in the area of computer analysis and design. The first day's program consisted of demonstrations and hands-on use of Cornell interactive computer graphics analysis and design programs, plus a discussion of current and planned National Center for Earthquake Engineering Research computer analysis research. The morning of the second day was devoted to presentations by other academicians and practitioners. The last day and one-half were spent on panel discussions and the preparation of reports and recommendations in four pre-defined areas: research needs, hardware innovations, software innovations, and technology transfer.
