Abstract
The Proceedings contain short papers of nearly 40 invited oral presentations made at the Symposium 'Earthquake Hazards, Ground Motions, Soil Liquefaction and Engineering Practice in Eastern North America' that was held by the National Center for Earthquake Engineering Research at the Sterling Forest Conference Center, Tuxedo, New York, during October 20-22, 1987. Papers are grouped into four broad topics: (1) Seismic Hazards Assessment vs. Engineering Practice; (2) Tectonics and Seismicity of Eastern North America; (3) Seismic Sources, Attenuation, and Ground-Motion Estimates; and (4) Geological Site Effects and Soil Liquefaction. Emphasis is on the seismicity of the Eastern United States and Canada.
