Abstract
The structure under consideration is an elastic cylindrical liquid storage tank attached to a rigid base slab. A finite element analysis is presented for the free vibrations of the empty tank permitting determination of natural frequencies and associated mode shapes. The response of the empty tank to several simple deterministic base excitations as well as artificial earthquake excitation is also determined by finite elements. Examples together with complete program listings are offered. (Portions of this document are not fully legible)
