Abstract
Research presented in this volume represents man's efforts to cope with natural and constructed environments. Research describing studies in the following areas are described in this volume: reduction of damage to man and his works from earthquakes; losses that are consequences of natural hazards; use of municipal waste as a resource and the problems of municipal waste management; management of environmental pollutants; information and methods in regional environmental decisionmaking; effects of physical alterations by man and nature on large water sources used by man; effects of federal policies on land use and development; and two approaches to a risk assessment and social evaluation of environmental hazards of human origin.
