Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate and improve the mathematical models used to represent the foundation rock and the reservoir. Measurements were made of the vibration behavior of Xiang Hong Dian Dam, a single curvature arch located in Anhui Province, China. Vibrations were excited by rotating mass shakers and also by ambient vibration effects in the environment; measured vibration mode shapes and frequencies were then compared with a finite element model analysis of the dam, reservoir, and foundation rock.
