Abstract
An analytical method based on mathematical programming techniques has been developed to evaluate the three-dimensional response of structures in order to study the nonlinear behavior of reinforced concrete frame-wall structures at damageability and ultimate limit states. The method also incorporates a finite element model of the shear wall that is capable of simulating some of the physical characteristics of the wall. The model is based on the distributed material properties of reinforcing bars and concrete, and is capable of predicting the crack pattern and the failure mode of the wall.
